Monday – Friday from 3 pm to 7pm, a new team of local radio personalities will hit the airwaves on WHUR to showcase their talent and try to convince listeners why they should be “Washington’s Next Big Voice.” Listeners can vote below for their favorite afternoon drive team.

John Wesley

John Wesley’s broadcast career spans three decades and multiple radio and television environments. Including television stints as a sound engineer with Washington, D.C,’s WRC 4, FOX 5, WJLA TV 7, WUSA 9, WHUT 32, ABC NEWS, CBS NEWS; and New York’s FOX NEWS, CBS 2, ABC SPORTS and CNN.

Born and raised in Flint, Michigan, John graduated from Howard University’s School of Communications in 1982 with a degree in Broadcast Production. He began his professional radio career at Washington, D.C.’s WDJY 100 HITS (formerly OK 100) in 1984. The following year, John moved to the hot urban station VI 03 in Baltimore, Maryland. In 1987, he took over the afternoon drive slot for Brute Bailey’s “More Strong Songs” format at D.C.’s DJ100. This led to a six year stint as the afternoon drive personality at Donnie Simpson’s market leading power house urban 93.9 WKYS in 1988. In 1993, John left KISS for the upstart Urban Hits WPGC 95.5. After a brief stint there, John landed at WHUR 96.3 in 1996 where he spent the next eight years. In 2003, John left WHUR to pursue his current career as a Voice Over Artist in New York City.
